The Miracle of the Qur'an - Then and Now

The Miracle of the Qur'an - Then and Now

Shaykh Yousef Wahb's first trip to the UK!

Turath Publishing and The Karima Foundation are pleased to announce a day seminar with Shaykh Yousef Wahb and Shaykh Dr. Sohaib Saeed.

The primary miracle of Islam, from the earliest period until today, has been the Qur'an. It bedazzled the Quraysh, leading many of their leaders to accept Islam, or at least to admit its miraculous nature. However, times have changed and now, in the modern age, trying to understand the miracle of the Qur'an, as a historical phenomenon and also attempting to convey that miracle to people today, is not so easy. Many Muslim thinkers have slipped in their attempts to make sense of this miracle and seismic paradigm shifts have taken place even in the last 20 years.

Join us as we host these two amazingly gifted scholars, each with their own understandings and attempted grappling with the miracle of the Qur'an, as we attempt a deep dive into this topic.

The event will be interactive with an opportunity to discuss with, engage and provoke our speakers in their attempts to present their ideas.

Session 1: The Evolution of Ijaz with Shaykh Yousef: Shaykh Yousef will provide an overview of the history of the discussion, and also how the theological and rhetorical contentions about it lead to evolving definitions of terms like muʿjiza, taḥaddī, muʿāraḍa, etc.

Session 2: Science or Signs? with Shaykh Dr. Sohaib Saeed: Shaykh Sohaib will discuss the concept of scientific miracles of the Qur'an, including recent misconceptions in that regard, and how to approach the Qur'anic depiction of the natural world.
