Duration:
One full day, 9:30am–5:00pm.
The day will be divided into three progressive sections:
- Beginner: 9:30am–11:00am
- Intermediate: 11:15am–1:30pm
- Advanced: 2:00pm–5:00pm
Participants are encouraged to attend the full day. Beginners will be supported throughout and will be able to take part in the intermediate and advanced sessions.
Course prerequisites:
- Minimum age: 14
- Bring a laptop and charger
- Access to an email address
- Basic ability to browse the internet
- No previous AI, coding, or technical experience required
- All activities will use free tools or free account tiers
Before the event, participants will receive a preparation email asking them to create any free accounts required for the practical sessions, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Replit, GitHub, or the final platforms selected for the day.
Participants aged 14–17 will attend subject to Karima Foundation’s usual safeguarding and consent arrangements.
Course description:
AI for Everyone is an accessible, hands-on introduction to using artificial intelligence in everyday life and work. The event is designed for people at every stage of their AI journey, including complete beginners, professionals, business owners, students, community members, and those who are ready to explore more advanced tools.
The beginner session will introduce artificial intelligence, the main types of AI models available, their strengths and limitations, how to select an appropriate tool, and how to communicate with AI effectively through prompt engineering.
During the intermediate session, participants will use a free browser-based AI development platform to create and deploy a simple working project. This will demonstrate how an idea can be transformed into a practical digital solution without requiring extensive coding experience.
The advanced session will introduce participants to GitHub, development containers, command-line tools, and modern AI-assisted development workflows. Participants will see how tools such as ChatGPT and Claude can support the creation of more capable applications and real-world solutions.
The event will be practical, supportive, and suitable for individuals and organisations. Beginners will be guided throughout the entire day.
Goals for participants after the seminar. By the end of the event, participants should be able to:
- Understand what AI is and recognise the strengths and limitations of different AI tools.
- Select more appropriate AI tools for different personal, professional, or business tasks.
- Write clearer and more effective prompts to improve the quality of AI-generated results.
- Use AI more confidently for research, writing, planning, problem-solving, productivity, and creative work.
- Identify practical opportunities to use AI in their day-to-day lives or workplaces.
- Build and deploy a simple AI-assisted digital project using free tools.
- Understand the basic purpose of GitHub, development environments, command-line tools, and AI coding assistants.
- Feel more comfortable experimenting with AI independently after the event.
- Leave with practical skills, a working example, and clear next steps for continuing their AI journey.
A nominal fee of £5 will be charged to register to ensure commitment to the course.
